Andrew Wright

Andrew Wright
  • Andrew Wright is an author, illustrator, teacher trainer and storyteller.“I have always been a worker for teachers rather than a language teacher. It’s a bit like being a maker of violins for others to play. Of course, I can and have knocked out some tunes on the violin myself but basically I am a maker.
  • As an author he has published: Creating Stories With Children, Oxford University Press; Five Minute Activities, Cambridge University Press; 1000+ Pictures for Teachers to Copy, Longman, Writing Stories, Helbling Languages.
  • As a teacher trainer he has worked with teachers in thirty countries and as a story teller he has worked with approximately 35,000 students in the last five years. Andrew often travels with Lydia (next to him in picture). Andrew’s wife, Julia, doesn’t mind; she is quite happy about it. Andrew lives in Hungary where he is managing director together with his wife, Julia Dudas of the International Languages Institute in Godollo.
  • “You can’t imagine how creative students get when I walk into the classroom with Lydia! They have SO many suggestions to make about our relationship! I think it is fair to assert that they never forget seeing Lydia and me together, for the first time. What an anchor for English!’
  • “What is the point in knowing the language if you can’t use it? Using it is performance. Performance is central to all language functions from clarifying to expressing and convincing…and being memorable.”
