  • Tim Murphey (PhD Université de Neuchâtel, Switzerland, in Applied Linguistics) TESOL’s Professional Development in Language Education series editor, co-author with Dörnyei of Group Dynamics in the Language Classroom, presently researches Vygotskian socio cultural theory (SCT) applications with particular emphasis on student voice, agency, identity, and community construction.
  • He has given plenaries in ten countries; taught graduate school in the US, Taiwan, and Japan; published books with a dozen publishers; and produced nine freely downloadable videos at the NFLRC, as well as 50 short YouTube teacher training Vidlets (2 to 5 minutes) University of Hawaii.
  • He really gets a kick out of creatively scaffolding the agentizing of students languaging abilities. He loves juggling and ski juggling (google “skiskiski juggling 2003”) and getting students to express themselves (google “the real voice of Japanese students”) and watch!
